What to Expect

VolunteeringThinking about volunteering?

If you are interested in volunteering for us, our Chief Officer will have an initial chat with you about what services we provide and to learn more about you and your interests.

We will then request references and carry out a DBS check. Once these have been returned, you will receive an Induction Handbook which will form the basis of your induction and which you can refer back to at any time.  It covers information on the structure of Ottery Help Scheme, our policies and procedures and what is required of you as a volunteer and representative of Ottery Help Scheme. It also details our obligations to you.

As well as the induction, wherever possible, we aim to provide or send you on relevant training related to your volunteering role. This training may become available at different times throughout the year. You will be given plenty of notice and we request that you try to attend such training wherever possible.

We know that our volunteers represent the foundation of Ottery Help Scheme and so we will try to support you in every way we can. We welcome all feedback and our door is always open.
